Service Description

An apostille is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961. If a document is to be used internationally, an apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature on the document, the capacity in which the person signing the document acted, and, when appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the document bears. The purpose of the apostille is to abolish the requirement of diplomatic or consular legalization for foreign public documents. How Apostille Certification is Done Verification of Documents: 1. The first step in obtaining an apostille is to ensure that the document is in its final form and has been signed by the appropriate authority. Common documents that might need an apostille include birth certificates, marriage licenses, court orders, educational diplomas, and business documents. Review and Authentication: 2. The authority reviews the document to verify its origin and the legitimacy of signatures and seals. If the document meets all requirements, the apostille is issued. This involves attaching an apostille certificate to the document itself, either as an endorsement or as a separate attached certificate. Items Needed for Apostille Certification * Original Document: The document to be apostilled must be an original, officially issued document with all necessary signatures and seals. * Identification: Personal identification, such as a valid driver’s license or passport, is required to verify your identity when submitting documents for apostille. * Payment of Fees: There are typically fees associated with obtaining an apostille. These fees can vary depending on the country and the type of document. * Cover Letter: A cover letter might be required, especially when mailing documents, specifying the country in which the apostille will be used. This helps to ensure that the correct type of apostille is applied according to the country's specific requirements under the Hague Convention. This process ensures that documents authenticated in one signatory country are recognized as valid in another, crucial for multinational legal matters, international studies, global business transactions, and intercountry adoption.
